Courses and transmission – The Place

For almost a month, Yuval Pick and Noémie De Almeida Ferreira will introduce the young dancers in The Place‘s Bachelor Contemporary Dance Performance program to the ® Practice method, and provide them with the choreographic material for the piece Flowers crack concrete. It will then be presented at Wilton’s Music Hall in London from February 4 to 7, 2025. Back to basics… Since 2018, Flowers crack concrete has been a fully-fledged participatory creation. Its choreographer Yuval Pick and the dancers of his company to groups of amateur dancers and trainees, of all ages and backgrounds. An in situ piece suitable for theaters and outdoor spaces not dedicated to dance, Flowers crack concrete questions our sense of belonging to a group and to a common space, as a place of convergence and difference. Flowers crack concrete is an invitation to move towards the unknown, to get out of ourselves to find the other, to go beyond the frontiers that separate us. Because dance is above all an encounter. Rewritten in 2021, then in 2022 for the 55 dancers in the preparatory and DNSPD contemporary courses at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse (CNSMD) in Paris, Flowers crack concrete toured under the name Bugger in several Parisian theaters from March to April 2022: Théâtre des Abbesses, Palais de la Porte Dorée and Chaillot – Théâtre National de la Danse.
